Origins of UTI

The group started its operations in the fishing industry over 40 years ago in West Africa

Starting with only one fish trawler in the early days, the development of the seafood processing and exports businesses led the group to operate through the affiliated companies a fleet of 50+ vessels at its peak, Today 12 vessels in operation, which allowed UTI to be, among other things, one of the major players and exporters of tropical shrimps, shell fish and bottom fish from West Africa.

Throughout the years, UTI also established an import activity of frozen fish. Sourced from all over the globe and destined to its various West African bases, UTI used these imports to back-up its local fish production, more specifically the pelagic products range.

Development of UTI

Today the group can cover the full range of frozen items and its value chain globally.

Dealing with large import volumes for the West African frozen fish markets, the group naturally decided to expand its presence from its existing regional markets to global markets, including the full range of the frozen items, mainly in the fish and meat sector.

Thanks to its solid worldwide organization and experienced team, UTI can cover most of its food chain from the sourcing of raw materials all the way up to the wholesale / retail distribution.
